Pier Phoenix 600 & 300 – Foam Buoyancy GRP Pod Boom
The Pier Boom is a high specification and effective pollution control boom and debris barrier which has proved itself over many years continuous use. Its advantages include a massive integral tensile strength – up to four times the strength of other booms without a separate load support system. Foam filled GRP outer shell panels impart unbeatable impact strength.
Freedom from the cuts and tears of soft fabric skirts. High positive buoyancy, low centre of gravity plus short hinge distance gives a stable efficient barrier that reacts quickly to waves and resists submarining. Easy to handle and always ready for use. Withstands heavy floating debris and highly resistant to abrasion from rocks, dock walls and beaching.
Manufactured in specially engineered buoyancy pods, filled with low density cross linked closed cell foam and enclosed within 3-4mm reinforced fibreglass giving high resilience and impact resistance. The buoyancy pods are bolted onto a 6mm width rubber coated polyester weave fabric substrate. The boom construction is such that whilst damage is highly improbable, in field repairs can be done. End connectors are customer specified, and when ordered with tidal compensators, triangular end floats are included.
