Cotton wadding manufactured traditionally by Cowens Ltd since 1901 in a variety of formats for diverse applications where padding, softness and retained shape are required in an economical format.

Cotton fibres are carded into a web before being bonded using a crosslinking resin skin which holds the material together while retaining the natural softness and thickness.

Manufactured to suit customer needs, it can be folded to give a resin face top and bottom (bookfold), rolled full width, or rolled full width double sided. Specific sized shapes can be cut from the wadding using a die press or sheet wadding made using a guillotine.

The wadding can be made from bleached fibres for bleached cotton wadding, unbleached fibres for grey cotton wadding, finest cotton combers for super grey wadding, or flame retardent fibres and resin for FR cotton wadding.

Applications as diverse as baby wraps (bleached wadding), shoulder pads and coffin lining (Grey), upholstery (FR) and french polishing (Super) as well as general padding, absorbing and insulating.
